Most small businesses do not need more software. They need the few systems they rely on to fit the way they work and to talk to each other. That is what custom software development is for: not replacing everything, but building the piece that off-the-shelf tools keep getting wrong.

What we build

  • Custom CRM and sales systems. Every enquiry captured, followed up and tracked to a result. See CRM development.
  • ERP and operations systems. Stock, purchasing, jobs, production and costing in one place instead of five spreadsheets.
  • Internal tools. The approval flow, quoting tool or scheduling board your team currently runs in Excel.
  • Customer and supplier portals. Orders, bookings, documents and status updates without the phone calls.
  • Integrations. Your accounting package, e-commerce store, payment provider and CRM sharing data automatically.
  • AI and automation. Document reading, follow-ups and AI calling agents built into the systems above.
  • Web and mobile apps when the software needs to reach customers or staff in the field.

Is custom software right for your business?

Honest answer: not always. We regularly advise businesses to keep a packaged tool and spend a smaller budget connecting it properly. Custom business software tends to pay for itself when:

  • staff keep spreadsheets alongside software you already pay for;
  • the way you quote, schedule, cost or deliver is how you win work;
  • per-user licence fees rise every time you hire;
  • two or more systems need to behave as one, and the vendors will not connect them.

If none of those apply, you probably do not need us yet. Our guide to business software solutions for SMEs sets out how to choose between buying, building and a hybrid.

How a project runs

From first call to software in daily use

  1. Discovery callYour process, the numbers behind the problem, and the tools you keep
  2. Scoped plan and fixed priceWritten scope, price in pounds and timeline
  3. Clickable prototypeYour team tests the screens before any code is written
  4. First working releaseThe highest-value slice, in use by one team
  5. Weekly releasesNext modules, integrations and data migration, with a demo every week
  6. Launch and supportMonitoring, fixes and changes as the business grows

Starting small is deliberate. One workflow in real use teaches everyone more than weeks of specification documents, and the saving from the first release often funds the next.

Working with DataVolve

  • A senior team, not a sales layer. The engineers who scope your project are the ones who build it. We operate from the United Kingdom and Pakistan, which keeps senior engineering affordable for SMEs.
  • You own everything. Code, cloud account and domain in your name from the first commit.
  • UK GDPR designed in. UK-region hosting, role-based access, audit logs and the right transfer paperwork for any access from outside the UK.
  • Proven technology. React, Node.js, Python and AWS for web systems; React Native and Flutter for mobile. Nothing exotic that only we can maintain.
  • Straight advice. If a £30-a-month tool solves your problem, we will say so.
