If you are looking for a software development company in the USA, you probably have a process that has outgrown spreadsheets and the tools you already pay for, or a product idea that needs to reach customers quickly. DataVolve builds that software for US businesses, at fixed prices in US dollars, with a working demo every week.
Our engineering team works from Pakistan, and DataVolve operates from the United Kingdom and Pakistan. Since 2021 we have delivered more than 75 projects. Here is what we build, what it typically costs, and how a project runs across the time difference.
What we build for US businesses
In short: the system in the middle of your business that packaged tools keep getting wrong.
Internal tools, approval flows, scheduling and quoting systems that replace the spreadsheet your team runs the business on.
Sales pipelines, inventory, purchasing, jobs and costing in one place. See custom CRM development.
Customer portals, booking apps and marketplaces in React, with iOS and Android apps in React Native or Flutter.
Tools such as QuickBooks, Stripe, Shopify, HubSpot or Salesforce sharing data with your own systems instead of being retyped.
Chat and voice agents, document reading and follow-ups built into your workflow. See AI automation and calling agents.
A validation MVP in one to two weeks, then the multi-tenant product, billing and admin as it earns its place.
Indicative pricing in US dollars
In short: focused projects typically range from about $1,000 to $30,000, fixed in writing before work starts.
| Project | Typical cost | Time to live |
|---|---|---|
| Validation MVP: one workflow, prove the idea | $999–$3,000 | 1–2 weeks |
| Automation between two systems | $800–$3,000 | 3–10 days |
| Internal tool that replaces a spreadsheet | $2,000–$6,000 | 2–3 weeks |
| AI agent (chat or voice) | $3,000–$12,000 | 2–4 weeks |
| Single business module: inventory, purchasing or pipeline | $5,000–$15,000 | 2–4 weeks |
| E-commerce with custom logic | $5,000–$20,000 | Scoped per project |
| Mobile app (iOS and Android) | $6,000–$25,000 | 4–10 weeks |
| Custom CRM with automation and reporting | $10,000–$30,000 | 3–6 weeks |
| Multi-module ERP platform | $15,000–$60,000+ | 6–16 weeks, phased |
Indicative ranges, not a quote. Your price is fixed in writing after a scoping call. Hosting typically runs $20–$300 a month, and maintenance about 15–25% of the build cost a year. What drives these numbers, and how they compare with US agency pricing, is in our guide to how much custom software costs.
How a US engagement runs
In short: a written plan within 24 hours, a live demo every week, and work that moves forward while you sleep.
From first call to software your team uses
- Discovery callYour process, the numbers behind the problem, the tools you keep, your time zone
- Written scope and fixed USD price within 24 hoursInclusions, exclusions, milestones and overlap hours
- Clickable prototypeYour team tests the screens before code is written
- First working releaseFor a focused tool, in about 10 days
- Weekly demo and releaseLive, on a call in your morning, with a written changelog
- Launch and supportMonitoring, fixes and changes as you grow
Our engineers work on UTC+5. Your 9:00 a.m. Eastern is 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. for them, depending on daylight saving time, so we agree a daily overlap window, typically a few hours of the Eastern morning and one to two hours for Pacific. Outside that window, questions and progress go in writing on the ticket, so nothing waits for a meeting.
Need ongoing capacity rather than a defined project? A dedicated development team for US companies works inside your own sprint process; our guide to hiring remote developers compares that with freelancers and direct hires.
Contracts and IP: who owns the software?
In short: you do, in writing, with every account in your company’s name.
Many US buyers assume a “work for hire” clause settles ownership. For software built by an outside company it generally does not: the US Copyright Office’s Circular 30 explains that commissioned work only qualifies in nine listed categories, and software is not one of them. So our contracts include an explicit written assignment of all intellectual property to you.
- Code in a GitHub or GitLab organisation you own, from the first commit.
- Cloud, domain and app store accounts in your company’s name.
- Confidentiality terms covering DataVolve and each engineer.
- A handover obligation, so you can move the work elsewhere without friction.
Security and privacy expectations
In short: ask for secure-development practice in writing, and get your vendor review answered control by control.
- Secure development. Two references US security teams often use: NIST’s Secure Software Development Framework (SP 800-218), a common vocabulary for secure development practices between buyers and suppliers, and the OWASP Top 10 of critical web application risks. Ask any supplier, us included, to show in writing how their process covers both.
- Vendor oversight. The FTC’s Start with Security tells businesses to put service providers’ security obligations in writing and restrict their access to sensitive data. We work inside your accounts with least-privilege access you control.
- California privacy law. If the CCPA applies to your business (thresholds include $26.625 million in gross annual revenue), it places separate obligations on service providers, per the California Privacy Protection Agency. Those terms belong in the contract before any access is granted.
- Health data. Handling protected health information for a covered entity requires written assurances, usually a business associate agreement (45 CFR 164.502(e)). We design builds to use de-identified data where possible.
- SOC 2. If your customers send SOC 2 questionnaires, we answer them in writing. We do not claim SOC 2 certification or a SOC 2 report.
This is not legal advice; your counsel should confirm which rules apply to you.
When a US-onshore software development company is the better choice
In short: pay the onshore premium when location is a requirement, not a preference.
- On-site work. Regular workshops at your premises, hardware installs or warehouse floor work.
- Contract requirements. A customer, insurer or government contract that requires US-based staff or onshore-only data access.
- All-day real-time collaboration on Pacific time, for example engineers paired with a live operations team every afternoon.
If none of these apply, a partner with clear overlap hours, weekly demos and your name on every account usually delivers the same software for considerably less. Our guide to choosing a software development company lists the questions to ask any supplier, us included, and the software development outsourcing guide compares onshore, nearshore and offshore in detail.
